Community Groups
Cascade STEAM Community Groups convene aspiring, current, and retired professionals interested in a STEAM topic to connect with fellow community members, discuss technical topics, participate in community building and community service programs, and collaborate with organizations in shared purpose on community projects.
Free. Open to Everyone. All are welcome. Family Friendly. Bring your friends!
Current Community Groups
Each Community Group is led by volunteer organizers and meets separately in a recurring ~monthly meeting. Scheduled events can be found on the Cascade STEAM Meetup Page and the Bellingham Codes Meetup Page. Community Groups include:
- Bellingham Codes led by Kevin Stock and Ryan Shupe in collaboration with Bellingham Codes focusing on all aspects of software development.
- Bellingham Linux Users Group led by Brian Parks and Garth Johnson in collaboration with LinuxFest Northwest focusing on the Linux operating system and open source software and hardware.
- Citizen Science led by Gil Lund and Michael Gan focusing on science and science-related community projects.
- Cybersecurity led by David Hirsch and Marty Mulholland focusing on all aspects of cybersecurity.
- Data Engineering led by Ian Hogan and Ryan Christensen focusing on all aspects of data engineering, including data storage and access, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and large language models (LLMs).
- Engineering led by Kris Keillor and Riley Liddle focusing on all aspects of engineering, including robotics.

We offer shared resources to organizers to simplify community collaboration, event management, and event promotion to help organizers focus on their positive community impact.

- A dedicated channel on our Community Hub (Discord) for discussion
- Meetup to manage and promote your events to the public
- Zoom to host virtual events with Zoom Pro features
- LinkedIn to promote your activities to professional networks
- Facebook to promote your activities to personal networks
- Google Workspace to organize collaboration with an organization email address and Google Drive Shared Folder
